Job summary

ABB Service Center in Charleston, WV seeks a Service Manager to lead breaker inspection and repair operations. You will ensure safety, manage shop inventory, and drive repair activities end-to-end with direct reporting to the Field Services Operations Leader.

The role requires extensive experience in electrical/mechanical repair, willingness to travel 10% to support initiatives, and hands-on leadership in a fast-paced environment at an on-site facility in West Virginia.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Electrical or Mechanical repair shop.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time to support business lead initiatives undefined.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety culture in the field and in-shop inspections.
• Maintain inventory tracking for shop repairs and inspect/repair breakers.
• Prepare change orders and update ERP with sales and cost amounts.
• Order parts via SAP ERP and receive items in SAP.
• Supervise labor on breaker repairs and handle shipping/delivery of serviced breakers.

Service Manager

The Breaker repair Shop Supervisor is responsible for the ABB Service Center at Charleston, WV facility that mainly conducts breaker inspection and repair. This person develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role you are responsible for work that is defined in scope, utilize your understanding and experience to execute business objectives, and must have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. This position has a solid line reporting to the Field Services Operations Leader.

Onsite

This role is contributing to the Electrification Division in the US.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Preserve ABB’s Safety Culture on every aspect and as priority, in the field and always keeping an eye on co-workers. Perform Environmental Health and Safety inspections in various degrees
• Maintain an inventory tracking sheet for repairs going through the shop. Inspect and repair breakers coming to the shop.
• Prepare change orders and send them to customers for additional repairs. Process PO revisions and ensure ERP system is updated for sales and cost amount
• Order parts through the ERP (SAP) needed for the repairs. Receive purchased items in ERP (SAP) system.
• Supervise labor on breaker repair if additional help/technicians are added to the team. Ship/deliver/and pickup breakers or equipment that have been serviced.

• Parallel Switchgear (preferred)
• Variable Frequency Drives (preferred)
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Proven analytical and quality improvement ability.
• Demonstrated proficiency in repair troubleshooting, shop operations, and testing of assigned programs / hardware.
• Ability to make formal presentations to all audiences.
• Able to work with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management.
• Project management or supervisory experience (meeting deadlines, resource & budget handling).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence customers and peers.
