Job summary

Handel Architects is seeking a Designer in New York with 4-6 years of professional experience and strong Revit skills. The designer will collaborate with senior team members on high-design projects and mentor junior staff, across architecture, interiors and urban design.

The firm prioritizes open design dialogue and a holistic architectural experience from concept through documentation. The role offers a path to mentorship, involvement in construction documentation, and a dynamic, collaborative

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • 4-6 years of professional experience, preferably in multi-family residential and mixed-use developments.
  • Revit proficiency & experience coordinating with multiple consultants.
  • Fluency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and MS Office.
  • 3-D modeling and rendering experience preferred (Rhino, Enscape, Grasshopper, D5).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with an aptitude for team collaboration and problem solving.
  • Excellent graphic presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, an ability to carry out design concept to realization.
  • Familiarity with building codes a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist schematic design, including programming, space planning, and building massing.
  • Develop design development documents, including detailed space layouts and exterior façade design and details.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineers, as well as other technical consultants.
  • Prepare construction documents, including exterior and interior details with structural and MEP coordination.
  • Assist with zoning and building code analyses.
  • Research materials and construction details.
  • Support construction administration by reviewing submittals (shop drawings, product data, and samples) to ensure design intent is maintained.

About The Job

Our New York office is currently seeking creative and multifaceted Designers with 4-6 years of professional experience and strong Revit skills. The individual will have the opportunity to work on projects with a high level of design in collaboration with senior team members and the opportunity to mentor junior staff.   • Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience

Remote Work Policy

To support onboarding, training, and team integration, new hires are required to work from the office full-time during their first six months. After this initial onboarding period, employees transition to the firm’s hybrid schedule of three in-office days and two optional remote days per week.
