Job summary

Dowding Industries Inc. is seeking a skilled welder to perform gas and electric welding and cutting in a metal stamping and fabrication setting. You will follow work orders, plan procedures, and prepare materials to produce high-quality components for automotive and defense sectors.

The role requires at least one year of MIG welding experience; TIG welding is a plus. A strong focus on safety, PPE, and precision is essential in our manufacturing facility in Michigan.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job; plans procedures and materials.
• Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning, and welding metals; repairs with welding techniques and equipment.
• Cleans and prepares surfaces, sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
• Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
• Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut material to size and shape.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.

Position Summary

To perform all kinds of welding and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment.

Responsibilities

• Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
• Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals. Repairs equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
• Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
• Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
• Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.

Minimum Qualifications

• Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing maintenance work.
• Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working in overhead structures and on scaffolds. Considerable glare emits from work, requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment. Exposed to moderate burns and exposed to flying objects, such as chips and scale.
• Accident hazard can involve severe cuts and bruises. Job site must be carefully enclosed to prevent injury to others from sparks and flying chips.

• This work position is required to work in a manufacturing environment facility.
• While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
