Job summary

Dowding Industries Inc. in Michigan is seeking an Assembly Technician to operate manufacturing machines and build custom products at a well-lit workbench. You will review orders, blueprints, and instructions, and use hand and power tools to complete orders efficiently and with high quality.

The role requires reading simple drawings, setting up instructions, and inspection criteria. You will join a team, maintain a clean work area, and collaborate with supervision to meet production goals.

• Safely operate and maintain various tools and machinery.
• Be part of continuous improvement efforts that show an impact with increased production rates and lowered scrap volumes within work area.
• Demonstrate basic skills in machine shop mathematics and blue print reading and interpolation.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
• Works with minimal supervision and direction.
• Maintain working area clean and organized at all times.
• Works from simple drawings, process sheets, inspection and or customer specifications, and instructions from supervisor.
• Operate machines or tooling as required and trained.
• Assemble boxes or containers as necessary for packaging of parts. Packing, weigh counting, labeling, etc.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.

Position Summary

Operation of various manufacturing machines. Must be comfortable with various operations and assignments or tasks. The Assembly Technician builds custom products while standing at a well-lit work bench. After reviewing the products order request, blue print, and instructions, the Assembly Technician uses their hands, hand tools, and power tools to complete the order in an efficient and high quality manner. Must be able to read and interpret Basic blue prints drawings, set-up instructions, and inspection instructions, etc.

• This work position is required to work in a manufacturing environment facility.
• While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
