Job summary

Summit Orthopedics in Vadnais Heights, MN is seeking a full-time Hand Therapist to join our patient-first team. You will evaluate, plan and implement hand therapy programs, coordinate with physicians, educate patients, and participate in ongoing education.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy with licensure eligibility; a Doctorate or Masters is preferred. One year of hand therapy experience and Hand Therapist certification are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level or higher degree in Occupational Therapy with state licensure eligibility.
  • Doctorate or Masters preferred; Bachelors required.
  • Certification as Hand Therapist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, plans and implements patient treatment programs in coordination with medical staff.
  • Administers treatment per physician orders and clarifies instructions with physicians.
  • Educates patients and families on self-management and exercises.
  • Maintains patient records and discharge summaries.
  • Assists with developing policies and procedures for hand therapy services.

This is a full-time opportunity based at our Vadnais Heights Campus. Monday - Friday schedule of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (schedule subject to change). Must be flexible to float to between all Hand Therapy sites when coverage is needed (Blaine, Eagan, Eden Prairie, Forest Lake, Hastings, Lakeville, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Woodbury)

Primary responsibilities
  • Evaluates, plans and implements patient treatment programs in coordination with medical staff.
  • Administers treatment program per physician orders, clarifies physician's treatment instructions and/or confers with physician and medical staff on patient care issues as indicated.
  • Recommends hand therapy policies and procedures concerning services provided.
  • Evaluates charts and reports on patient's progress.
  • Maintains patient records, charts, and discharge summaries.
  • Educates patients and family in proper self management care and exercise programs.
  • Conducts and participates in clinical educational programs.
  • Assists other therapists in planning treatment programs.
  • Participates in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions.
  • Participates in establishing job requirements and goals; performs duties at the desired level of competency.
  • Ensures that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment.
  • Maintains currency in field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
  • Follows policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Summit Orthopedics and applicable laws and regulations. Regularly reviews accuracy, availability, and security of information.
  • Complies with federal, state and local legal and professional requirements by staying current with existing and new legislation and advises management on needed actions.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

Summit's hiring range for this position is $80,444 - $100,556 per year. The hired candidate may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, differentials and/or deferred compensation. In addition to our base salary, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package that aligns with our vision of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. If you are hired at Summit, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
