Job summary

Schwieters Companies, Inc. is seeking a full-time Hand Sander/Wood Enthusiast for our Prefinish Department. You will sand wood materials by hand and with electric sanders, inspect for quality, and support a collaborative warehouse team to ensure on-time deliveries.

Ideal candidates have basic finishing knowledge, strong attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. Overtime may be required; safety and quality are emphasized in a family-owned environment.

Qualifications

• Basic finishing knowledge preferred.
• Must follow company quality standards and have great attention to detail.
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ lbs.
• Self-motivated, self-directed team player and team builder.
• Able to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions, with good communication and detail orientation.
• Flexible to overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Sand wood materials manually and with an electric sander.
• Inspect all material for quality.
• Stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly during shift.
• Maintain constant communication with department lead on progress with work orders.
• Collaborate with warehouse team to achieve on-time deliveries.
• Operate a forklift to pick material as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Correctly sand wood materials manually and with an electric sander
• Inspect all material for quality
• Stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout shift
• Have constant communication with department lead on progress with work orders
• Work together with a team throughout the warehouse to achieve maximum efficiency with 100% complete and on-time deliveries
• Pick material using a stand/sit forklift as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Basic finishing knowledge preferred
• Must follow company quality standards and have great attention to detail
• Comfortable learning to operate a sander and a forklift
• Candidate must have a good work history
• Able to lift 50+ lbs. comfortably
• Self-motivated, self-directed team player and team builder
• Able to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions, have good communication skills (verbal and written), and be detail oriented
• Capable of standing for extended periods of time
• Flexible in working overtime when necessary

WORK SCHEDULE

• Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm, overtime as needed

PAY

• $20/hr.
