REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ohio Division of EMS certification as a Paramedic.
- Any Paramedic level certification from another state must apply for ODPS EMT certification through reciprocity. (ODPS card must be obtained prior to orientation).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days.
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR card within 30 days.
- A valid driver's license is required. If you do not have an Ohio driver’s license, you must obtain one within 30 days of residency. Must meet BVHS's fleet policy, Hanco’s insurance requirements, and other operational requirements:
- Drivers aged 25+ must have no more than three moving violations or one accident and one violation within the last three years.
- Drivers aged 21-24 can have no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
- Drivers aged 18-20 must have no moving violations.
- Drivers under 18 are not acceptable.
- No major convictions within the last five years.
- All drivers are subject to insurance approval.
- Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles, assessing patient data, and interpreting information to meet patient needs as per policies and procedures.
Within 6 months of employment - Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- NIMS IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications.
- NIMS ICS 300 and 400 certifications.
- HazMat Awareness Level certification.
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
Within 1 year of employment- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- CEVO (Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator course).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires physical activities involving arms, legs, and whole body movements such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting for long periods, and handling materials. Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 120 pounds with or without assistance.
This position is classified as “at risk” for occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.).
