Job summary

ABM Industries seeks a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 or higher education campus. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, restroom upkeep, and maintaining clean desks, floors, and surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairs.
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris, and clean spills in designated areas.
• Regularly check and empty trash receptacles in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment safely.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Sort and recycle waste into proper receptacles.
• Dust and clean desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as wood and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs and food-area equipment.
• Move cabinets, furniture, and equipment to access areas for cleaning.
• Clean interior partitions, glass, windows and mirrors with appropriate cleaners.
• Sweep outdoor walks, rake leaves, and perform seasonal tasks as needed.
• Ensure restrooms are clean and well maintained.
• Comply with safety, security, and quality standards set by ABM and clients.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairways
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areas
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceiling, and walls
• Polish hard surfaces, e.g. woodwork, stainless steel surfaces
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks
• Maintenance the cleanliness of restrooms (clean and polish as needed)
• Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities

Basic Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior customer service experience
• One (1) year of prior similar work experience.
