Job summary

Old Colony YMCA in Halifax, MA is seeking a Site Coordinator to manage the School Age program. You’ll lead day-to-day activities, support staff, and build strong relationships with families to deliver a safe, engaging experience for children.

Under the School Age Director, you’ll ensure programs comply with EEC regulations and YMCA policies, while driving enrollment and community engagement. Ability to lift, move equipment, and work varied hours is required.

Qualifications

  • Age 20+.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required (will train).
  • Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence within a cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment up to 75lbs and 40lbs frequently.
  • Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills for public speaking responsibilities.
  • Understand and comply with EEC regulations and YMCA policies.
  • Plan, develop, and implement the program curriculum per regulations and policies.
  • Lead daily activities and staff meetings; coordinate with School Age Director.
  • Maintain attendance records and submit reports timely.
  • Provide leadership in weekly site staff meetings and monthly school age meetings.
  • Manage payments and billing according to parent schedules.
  • Prepare monthly nutrition reports where applicable.
  • Establish training programs and professional growth opportunities.

Lead the adventure! Plan and bring to life fun, creative, and engaging activities that keep kids excited to come back each day.
Be a positive and encouraging leader for Assistant leaders and Group Leaders- helping them create the magic.
Help your team feel supported, motivated, Host meetings and encourage them to be ready to bring their best energy every day.
Build meaningful relationships with children and families and help create a strong sense of community and boost our enrollment.
Keep the program organized and running smoothly—even when the unexpected happens!
Handle children's files and make sure everything is up to date.
Help keep the program in compliance with YMCA policies, licensing requirements, and all safety guidelines.Make safety a priority while following EEC protocol, and guidance from the School Age Director. (Serving food, Site set up, Files Ect.)

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 20 years of age.
  • B.S. or B.A. with 9 months experience with school age children, or High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year working with school age.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required. (willing to train)
  • Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.

  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are always maintained.
  • Plan, develop, and implement the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA’S policies.
  • Gear the school age lesson plans to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural diversity, and individual style and pace of learning.
  • Leadership of daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Homework Help, STEM activities, Arts and Crafts and long-term projects.
  • Assist in staffing other schools if needed
  • Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
  • Supervision of the program’s children in all program locations, trips, etc.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including accident reports, incident reports, attendance records, and forward a copy of these reports to the School Age Director.
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
  • Maintain attendance records and ensure all necessary reports and paperwork are submitted accordingly.
  • Meet with School Age Director as directed.
  • Provides leadership role in both weekly site staff meetings and monthly school age meetings.
  • Collect, record and receipt payments and billing according to Y parent payment schedule.
  • Provide monthly Bureau of Nutrition reports where applicable.
  • Establish and maintain effective training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with school or other site-specific personnel.

SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:

  • Organize, facilitate and document regular meetings with staff to ensure work plans are being adhered to or modified as needed.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and all site coordinator’s meetings.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate school age staff and volunteers.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize purchase of supplies through School Age Director.
  • Ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.
  • Assist with the Annual Campaign and other fund-raising events.
  • Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders, employee expense forms, member balances and appropriate safekeeping of tuition payments.
