Qualifications

• Fluency in Haitian Creole and English.
• Experience providing interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings with high fidelity.
• Ability to interpret orally between Haitian Creole and English in both directions.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Experience meeting communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders.
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience.
• Willingness to obtain medical clearances, vaccinations, and background checks.
• Reliable phone, computer with high-speed internet, and quiet private workspace.

Job Description

This is an independent contractor position offering a flexible work schedule and ongoing opportunities. The interpreter will provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings. Assignments are conducted entirely through phone or Zoom and are available on a regular basis, depending on the demand for specific languages and the interpreters qualifications.

Qualifications

• Fluency in both Haitian Creole and English


• Demonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings, with the highest level of fidelity to the original communication


• Strong ability to interpret orally between Haitian Creole and English in both directions


• Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds


• Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders


• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience


• Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary


• Must have a reliable phone, a laptop or desktop computer, and a stable high-speed internet connection


• Access to a quiet, private workspace to support remote assignments
