Job summary

Tioga Downs in Nichols, NY, is seeking a talented Hairstylist to join our spa team within a casino-resort environment. Deliver elevated grooming experiences, from blowouts to updos, while keeping guests looking and feeling their best.

You’ll need passion for hair and beauty, creativity, and strong guest-service skills to thrive in a dynamic spa setting. This is a part-time, on-site role with a starting hourly pay of $17–$19.

Responsibilities

• Consult with guests to understand style and preferences.
• Recommend cuts, colors and styles.
• Perform cuts, trims, shaves, blowouts, set & styles, and updos.
• Create color services including highlights, ombre, balayage.
• Shampoo, condition, and prep hair with suitable products.
• Provide hair treatments and color-protection services.
• Stay current with beauty trends, techniques, products, and styles.
• Build relationships with returning guests and remember preferences.
• Recommend products and services when appropriate.
• Manage appointments and walk-ins with polished service.
• Maintain a clean, organized station and sanitize tools.
• Promote spa services, treatments, and promotions.
• Support the spa team as needed.
• Work independently while maintaining high standards.

What You’ll Do

As a Hairstylist, you’ll create personalized looks while delivering the exceptional service our guests expect. Your day may include:

• Consult with guests to understand their style, preferences, and desired look
• Recommend cuts, colors, and styles that complement each guest’s features and personality
• Perform cuts, trims, shaves, blowouts, set & styles, and updos
• Create beautiful color services, including highlights, ombré, balayage, and more
• Shampoo, condition, and prepare hair using products appropriate for each guest’s needs
• Provide hair treatments such as hydrating masks and color-protection treatments
• Stay current with beauty trends, techniques, products, and styles
• Build relationships with returning guests and remember their preferences
• Recommend professional hair care products and additional services when appropriate
• Manage appointments and walk-ins while providing timely, polished service
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming station and properly sanitize tools
• Promote spa services, treatments, retail products, promotions, and special programs
• Jump in and support the spa team wherever needed
• Work independently while maintaining high standards of service and professionalism

• Comfortable recommending products and services without being pushy
• Previous salon or spa experience preferred
• Knowledge of current hair and beauty trends
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
