Job Summary: Performs a variety of duties involved in hair styling, hair care, and provides basic manicure and pedicure services at a main branch or location haircare facility for authorized military and civilian personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides complete hair care services to clients such as shampooing, shaping, styling, cutting, relaxing, coloring, and permanent waving using various tools.
• Checks clients' scalp and hair for disorders that may interfere with requested services.
• Consults with clients on matters pertaining to their haircare needs.
• Maintains combs in solution and sanitizes equipment.
• Performs basic manicure and pedicure care and services.
• Prepares fingernails and/or toenails for polishing and examines nails for disorders.
• Maintains scissors and other tools in cleaning solution.
• Maintains an updated record of client services and chemical formulas.
• Operates cash register, prepares hair care chits, and collects cash from clients.
• Ensures 100% customer satisfaction and carries out assignments with independence.
• Licensing from a state board is required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Medical Screening Requirement:

All barber shop and beauty shop employees must be medically screened and determined to be free of communicable diseases prior to initial assignment.

Physical Effort:

Requires continual use of both arms and hands, frequent standing, reaching, and light lifting. Objects handled seldom weigh in excess of 5 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed inside a haircare facility with proper lighting, plumbing, heating, and adequate electric power.

Education and License:

Graduate of an accredited school of cosmetology and possession of a valid U.S. State License in Cosmetology.
