Job summary

Hideaway Golf Club in La Quinta, California, seeks a Hair Stylist to provide luxury salon services including cutting, coloring and styling for Members. You will create a welcoming salon environment, maintain professionalism, and deliver personalized care within a private club setting.

The role requires a California cosmetology license, experience in luxury salons, flexibility to work weekends and holidays, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Current California Cosmetology License.
• Previous experience in a luxury salon, resort, private club, wellness center, or comparable environment preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of haircutting, coloring, styling, chemical services, scalp care, and professional salon products.
• Ability to recommend and customize salon services based on each Member's individual needs and preferences.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Professional appearance, discretion, creativity, and sound judgment.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding Member information.
• Commitment to exceptional Member service and luxury hospitality standards.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Member comfort throughout each appointment and adjust services as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate service records while protecting Member confidentiality.
• Promote healthy hair and scalp care through education and personalized recommendations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Hair Stylist provides exceptional salon services designed to enhance each Member's appearance, confidence, and overall well-being while delivering an unparalleled luxury salon experience. This position performs professional hair cutting, styling, coloring, and other licensed salon services based on each Member's individual preferences, lifestyle, and hair care needs while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, sanitation, safety, and personalized care.

The Hair Stylist serves as a beauty and wellness ambassador for Hideaway Golf Club by creating a welcoming and relaxing salon environment, building trusted Member relationships, and delivering exceptional salon services that reflect the Club's commitment to luxury hospitality and service excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Member Haircare & Salon Services

• Conduct confidential consultations to assess each Member's hair care goals, preferences, lifestyle, and service expectations.
• Perform professional hair cutting, styling, coloring, conditioning, and other licensed salon services within the scope of licensure and professional training.
• Provide special occasion hairstyling services for Club events and Member functions, as requested.
• Recommend hairstyles, treatments, and services based on hair type, condition, and Member preferences.
• Educate Members on proper hair care techniques, styling methods, and recommended home care products.
• Monitor Member comfort throughout each appointment and adjust services as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate service records while protecting Member confidentiality.
• Promote healthy hair and scalp care through professional education, personalized recommendations, and exceptional Member service.

Salon Operations

• Prepare salon workstations before each appointment, ensuring all equipment, tools, products, linens, and supplies are properly sanitized, stocked, and organized.
• Clean and disinfect salon stations, styling chairs, tools, and equipment following each service in accordance with applicable health and safety standards.
• Maintain inventory of salon products, color supplies, retail merchandise, linens, and operating materials.
• Report equipment maintenance or facility concerns promptly.
• Participate in salon promotions, wellness events, Member education programs, and special Club events.
• Recommend professional hair care products and salon services through personalized consultations and exceptional Member care.
• Support departmental goals by encouraging Member participation in salon and wellness services while promoting a culture of confidence, self-care, and exceptional service.

Professional Standards

• Maintain all required California cosmetology licenses and professional certifications.
• Complete all required continuing education requirements.
• Remain current on hairstyling techniques, color trends, products, wellness trends, and industry best practices.
• Follow all sanitation, infection prevention, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Maintain a polished professional appearance consistent with Hideaway Golf Club standards.
• Foster teamwork through positive communication and collaboration.

• Review Member preferences, service history, allergies, and desired outcomes prior to each appointment.
• Begin and conclude each appointment on time while providing a seamless luxury salon experience.
• Maintain accurate service documentation while protecting Member confidentiality.
• Communicate professionally regarding appointments, scheduling changes, service recommendations, and home care routines.
• Ensure salon workstations remain clean, organized, and guest-ready throughout the day.
• Educate Members on professional hair care practices and recommend products that support their individual hair care goals.
• Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards in all Member interactions.

Requirements

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Experience with advanced color techniques, special occasion styling, keratin treatments, extensions, or other specialized salon services is preferred.
• Retail hair care sales experience in a luxury salon or resort environment is beneficial.
• Hospitality, customer service, or wellness industry experience is beneficial.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional Member service while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• Criminal and civil background clearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing for extended periods while performing haircutting, styling, coloring, and other professional salon services.
• Performing repetitive hand, wrist, finger, shoulder, and upper body movements while cutting, styling, blow-drying, coloring, and finishing hair.
• Frequently reaching, bending, leaning, and adjusting body positioning while providing salon services and ensuring Member comfort.
• Using professional salon equipment, styling tools, dryers, curling and flat irons, brushes, and other licensed cosmetology equipment safely and effectively.
• Preparing salon workstations by lifting, carrying, organizing, and replenishing towels, products, color supplies, tools, and salon equipment.
• Using computers, tablets, scheduling software, and electronic records to manage appointments, service documentation, and Member information.
• Communicating continuously with Members, Guests, Spa staff, and management regarding appointments, services, product recommendations, and wellness offerings.
• Maintaining salon cleanliness and sanitation by disinfecting tools and equipment, replacing linens, stocking supplies, and following infection prevention procedures.
• Monitoring Member comfort, service quality, and safety while ensuring compliance with professional salon standards and sanitation procedures.
• Working in a professional salon environment while maintaining a polished, organized, welcoming, and luxury-focused atmosphere.

Work Environment

This position works throughout the Spa & Fitness Center, primarily in the salon, treatment areas, and other designated wellness spaces, with occasional responsibilities in reception and retail areas. Hair Stylists interact closely with Members, Guests, Spa staff, and Club leadership while providing personalized salon services, product education, and wellness recommendations. This role requires maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming salon environment while consistently delivering luxury hospitality and exceptional Member care.
