Overview

H2C Technical Publication Communications Specialist – Tank and Pipeline Integrity (TAPI) documents production for Single-Shell Tanks and Double-Shell Tanks, supporting Environmental Management Sector clients such as Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) and DOE Office of River Protection. The position is typically located in CONUS - Richland, WA, and across the Pacific Northwest, with the possibility of remote work as described below.

Delivering precise, compliant, high-visibility tank integrity reports to ensure safety, transparency, and confidence in environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical publication support as a H2C Technical Publication Communications Specialist for Tank and Pipeline Integrity (TAPI) document production (SST/DST reports) for Hanford facilities.
  • Perform final editing and finishing of reports: spelling/grammar, references, layout, formatting; interface with authors; ensure timely delivery on expedited schedules; may require after-hours or weekend work with deadlines communicated by email.
  • Create graphics for reports/presentations using Visio and Adobe Creative Suite as needed.
  • Prepare high-visibility engineering reports with professional format and content aligned to H2C standards and ORP precedence; ensure reviews by qualified Technical Publications personnel for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support approximately 15 reports/presentations per year; ensure submittals are recorded in the Master Submittal Register, provided electronically unless hard copy is required, and follow Hanford procedures for transmittals.

The role emphasizes technical communications and publications focused on engineering report production, compliance, editing, and graphics, with government and engineering stakeholders in mind.

Qualifications
  • 15 years of experience formatting and publishing documents, preferably for DOE including limited distribution, publicly released, and Official Use Only documents.
  • Working knowledge of document preparation standards (Hanford/H2C standards; GPO; Chicago Manual of Style; NRC Editorial Style Guide).
  • Experience with MS Office, Visio, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat), and ACAD for producing professional documents.
  • Proficiency with standard editorial and document control practices; ability to meet strict quality and release criteria (TFC-BSM-AD-STD-02; TFC-ENG-DESIGN-C-25).
  • Understanding of MSC-PRO-54603 (Identifying, Marking, and Protecting Official Use Only Information).
  • ESH&Q requirements: standard commercial QA practices; Hanford Site access not authorized for this SOW.
  • Security/Compliance: sustainable acquisition requirements per DEAR 952.223-78 where applicable.
  • Education/Experience: strong experience in technical publication/editing, with capability to work with engineers and report authors; bachelor’s or higher degree preferred depending on background.
Work Location and Access
  • Initial work location: Richland, WA; remote work possible with HLAN access; reports submitted electronically when possible.
  • ProSidian engagement team to coordinate with H2C and ORP stakeholders; interface with engineers and authors; prepare regulated, high-visibility deliverables for ORP, Ecology, and public release.
