Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Location: Remote

Reports To: Director of Operations / Executive Leadership


Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Human Resources Manager to lead and manage all aspects of our HR operations. This role is responsible for overseeing recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, compliance with employment regulations, and the administration of company benefits-including 401(k) plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong working knowledge of HR principles, exceptional organizational skills, and a proven track record in managing full-cycle HR functions in a fast-paced environment. Certification such as aPHR, PHR, or SPHR is required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage HR policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment and hiring processes, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviews, and offer negotiations
  • Manage and improve employee onboarding and offboarding programs to ensure smooth transitions and compliance
  • Administer and oversee employee benefit programs, including 401(k) plans, health insurance, and leave programs
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and resolution in line with HR best practices
  • Maintain and update HRIS records, personnel files, and ensure confidentiality of employee information
  • Conduct periodic internal audits and ensure HR documentation and recordkeeping are up to date
  • Support performance management processes, training and development programs, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Advise management on organizational policies, legal compliance, and best practices in human resource management
  • Coordinate with payroll and accounting departments regarding benefits deductions, employment changes, and compliance reporting
  • Stay current on labor legislation, HR trends, and industry standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field or 2 year-degree with 8 years of experience
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including 2+ years in an HR leadership or management role
  • Current aPHR, PHR, or SPHR certification required
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, etc.)
  • Experience managing 401(k) plan administration and coordinating with plan providers
  • Proven success in managing recruitment strategies and onboarding programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Proficient in HR software/HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Ability to maintain discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism in sensitive matters

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in [insert industry - e.g., environmental services, construction, engineering, etc.]
  • Knowledge of government contracting compliance (e.g., E-Verify, VETS-4212, OFCCP)
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification (a plus)
