Rolling Meadows Park District is seeking a part-time Gymnastics Team Instructor at the Nelson Sports Complex in Rolling Meadows, IL. The role involves leading gymnastic practices, ensuring safety, and maintaining communication with parents.

The position requires aging at least 16, with USAG certification progress planned within specified timelines. The department offers part-time hours with pay ranging from $15 to $28 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Experience in USAG competitive gymnastics, Excel gymnastics, or college-level competition preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated experience in gymnastics and working with children.

Responsibilities

• Lead gymnastics team participants on all apparatus during practices and meets.
• Lead team practice at least twice per week and be available for weekend meets.
• Obtain USAG Professional Membership and USAG Safety Certification within 3 months; USAG (U100) Instructor Certification within 12 months; Safe Sport Certification within 24 months.
• Attend staff meetings and training as required.
• Participate in all planned activities and daily routines.
• Set up practice area, maintain equipment and storage areas.
• Cooperate with coworkers and administrative staff; complete forms (lesson plans, accident reports, student evaluations).
• Ensure student safety at all times; communicate progress to parents.

JOB SUMMARY

The Gymnastics Team Instructor is responsible for a variety of duties including, having a thorough understanding of the guidelines concerning the operation of the gymnastics program, maintaining good communication with parents, supervision and leadership of their class, weekly preparations, and documentation. This is an at-will position.

• Responsible for leading gymnastics team participants on all gymnastics apparatus during practices and meets.
• Lead team practice at least twice per week and available for weekend team meets during season.
• USAG requirements: obtain USAG Professional Membership and USAG Safety Certification in first three months of employment and keep current. Must obtain USAG (U100) Instructor Certification in first 12 months and Safe Sport Certification in first 24 months.
• Required to attend staff meetings and service training when required.
• Required to participate in all planned activities on a daily basis, as well as special activities.
• Responsible for the daily physical set up of the practice area. Maintenance of equipment and storage areas.
• Cooperate with co-workers and administrative staff.
• Complete all necessary forms as needed (lesson plans, accident reports, student evaluations, certificates).
• Insure the safety of students at all times
• Maintain good communication with parents keeping them informed of activities and child’s progress

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 16 years of age. Experience in USAG competitive gymnastics, Excel gymnastics, and/or college-level competition is desired but not a requirement. Must have successful experience in gymnastics and working with children.

SCHEDULE & PAY

This is a part time position. Full pay range for this position is $15-$28 per hour, plus applicable facility and program discounts.
