Job summary

YMCA in San Diego County is seeking a Gymnastics Director to lead the Gymnastics program at an assigned branch, recruiting and supervising staff and volunteers, and ensuring safety and high-quality programming. You will oversee preschool and recreation classes, manage budgets, and drive growth across both recreation and competitive gymnastic activities, including events and parties.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 2+ years in gymnastics, supervisory experience, and safety

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years’ work experience in a gymnastics program.
  • 1+ year's supervisory experience for a team of two or larger.
  • USAG Professional Membership and current safety certification and U100 USA Gymnastics certification.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety & Health Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of competitive teams and competitions, class programs, Gymnastics programs that include birthday parties, camp, private lessons, gymnastics center fundraisers and operation of gymnastics competitions.
  • Directs and supervises assigned program and program activities to meet Y objectives.
  • Provide leadership for the development and operation of the Gymnastics programs.
  • Develops, and prepares department budget for assigned programs. Controls and accounts for the expenditure of funds in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Expands programming within the community in accordance with operating plans.
  • Increase program revenue, participants and expand program development.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of assigned program information.
  • Effectively lead department / program team and program volunteers.
  • Provide timely and consistent communication to staff, volunteers and members.
  • Implement standards for providing the highest level of safety for all program participants.

Overview

The Gymnastics Director is responsible for developing, delivering and administering the Gymnastics program at an assigned branch. The Director is responsible for recruiting, hiring, supervising and developing assigned team. The Gymnastics Director oversees the engagement and recruitment of program volunteers for the program.

Oversee the McGrath Recreation Program, including preschool and recreation classes, as well as the McGrath Monarchs Competitive Gymnastics Team. Provide leadership and direction across both program areas, ensuring high-quality programming, effective staff management, participant satisfaction, safety, and alignment with organizational goals

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant experience required
  • 2+ years’ work experience in a gymnastics program
  • YMCA experience preferred
  • 1+ year's supervisory experience required for a team of two or larger
  • 2+ years’ experience with program development and program operations
  • USAG Professional Membership and current safety certification and U100 USA Gymnastics certification
  • Experience in implementing administrative and safety standard
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequentarrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within30 daysofhireand must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute
