Job summary

City of Durango seeks a part-time Gymnastics Coach to organize and lead age-appropriate classes within Parks and Recreation programs. You will create a positive, engaging environment, plan lessons, and assist with equipment care while collaborating with staff to deliver safe, fun experiences for participants.

You will follow department philosophies, maintain open communication with parents, attend trainings, and model professional sportsmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in educational or recreational programs.
• Understanding of child development and age-appropriate instruction.
• Knowledge of gymnastics or related recreational activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead gymnastics classes and activities.
• Attend required orientations and trainings.
• Arrive prepared and on time for shifts and classes.
• Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and request supplies as needed.
• Teach proper gymnastics techniques and fundamentals by age/skill level.
• Lead enrichment activities and other recreational programming as assigned.
• Model sportsmanship, positive behavior, and respectful participation.
• Ensure participant safety by inspecting surfaces and equipment and adjusting for conditions.
