Job summary

Excel Fitness in Portsmouth, VA is seeking a reliable Team Player to join our cleaning crew. The role includes cleaning restrooms, locker rooms, floors, windows, and surfaces, plus supporting front desk tasks as needed.

You will follow cleaning schedules, operate floor scrubbers and vacuums, and communicate with members to maintain a welcoming, sanitary gym environment. Candidates should be at least 18, with a high school diploma and punctual, team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Custodial experience is preferred.
• Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality skills.
• Great communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Must be team oriented, motivated, and well organized.
• Ability to think critically and evaluate solutions to problems proactively.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms, locker room areas, shower rooms, stall walls and doors, and all waste areas.
• Inspect and clean all windows and window frames, both interior and exterior.
• Detail clean all baseboards, wall trim, walls, and handrails throughout the facility.
• All air vents, TVs, signage, storage or glass doors, and light fixtures must be dusted and cleaned.
• Assist in front desk operations as needed, including use of Point of Sale.
• Follow cleaning lists and other assigned tasks.
• Trash from all waste areas must be removed or pushed down.
• All flooring must be cleaned throughout the gym floor, including auxiliary rooms and under gym equipment.
• Operate floor scrubber and vacuum cleaner as needed.
• Communicate with members and create a high level of member service.
• Keep storage rooms clean and organized with shelving and proper product arrangement.
• Notify club management if inventory for cleaning supplies is low and needs replenishment.
