Job summary

Foothills Area YMCA in Seneca, SC seeks a Gym Attendant for seasonal, part-time work. The role oversees gym operations, assists with program setup, and ensures a safe, welcoming environment for members.

Availability for early mornings (5:15 AM–10:00 AM), evenings (5:00 PM–9:00 PM) and weekends is preferred. Responsibilities include supervising open gym, setting up equipment, maintaining safety, and promoting YMCA programs while adhering to policies.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Basic knowledge of basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and other activities is preferred.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required or obtainable.
  • Minimum age of 16 years or as required by YMCA.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome members and guests and provide excellent customer service.
  • Supervise the gymnasium during open gym, programs, leagues, and events.
  • Set up, take down, and store gym equipment safely.
  • Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ensure the gym remains clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Enforce YMCA policies and safety procedures.
  • Assist with program transitions and equipment storage.
  • Respond to emergencies following YMCA procedures and file incident reports as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with members and promote YMCA programs.
  • Assist with opening and closing responsibilities for the gymnasium.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Director.
