Job summary

Bowhead seeks a GXVM System Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support its customer in Crane, IN. The ISSE onsite at NSWC Crane will travel regularly to SPHQ or Field Activities and provide technical and program management support to SSP programs and Program Offices.

The role focuses on embedding Cybersecurity requirements into SSP system designs, developing security plans, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience.
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification.
• Current OS/CE certifications for Windows and RHEL.

Overview

GXVM System Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) (2026-26194):

Bowhead seeks an GXVM System Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support its customer in Crane, IN.The GXVM System Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) will provide direct support to the Program Office Technical Lead onsite at NSWC Crane and will be expected to travel regularly to SPHQ or Field Activities. This position will provide technical and program management support to one or more SSP programs and Program Offices, as directed.

Responsibilities

The ISSE will ensure Cybersecurity requirements to support system acquisition, development, test, and sustainment are embedded in SSP system designs. Their duties involve requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, and integration of Cybersecurity system architectures that provide cyber resiliency and Cybersecurity capabilities into SSP’s non-enterprise systems. They are responsible for ensuring that design alternatives are selected that appropriately account for risk to mission regarding the cyber security posture. ISSEs are proposed by the contractor and accepted by the PM.

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Develop and apply requirements for large-scale or service specific pilot projects.
• Support the Program Office Technical Lead as needed identifying issues and action items and participating in ISSE discussions.
• Provide customer interactions with Program Offices and associated contractors/subcontractors. Customer interactions will be a combination of teleconferences and on-site meetings.
• Coordinate and collaborate with the stakeholders, including SSP representatives and contractors/subcontractors through assessments, subject matter expert input to proposals, technical interchange meetings, status teleconferences, email correspondence, and other meetings as required.
• Support development of technical presentations and provide comments on the technical content.
• Develop System Security Plans detailing the security controls implemented for each information system.
• Work with SSP programs to develop and maintain lifecycle plans.
• Evaluate performer deliverables and presentations

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in either Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or equivalent
• Five (5+) or more years of relevant cybersecurity experience
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification
• Current and valid Operating System/Computing Environment (OS/CE) certifications or certificates of training for both Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Must be proficient in RHEL.
• Ability to communicate effectively and proficiently with leadership and stakeholders, via both oral and written communication, using American English
• Ability to collaborate with large and highly competent technical teams.
• Strategic high-level thinking
• Ability/experience with planning an initiative involving large-scale, networked systems.
• Must be a United States citizen to obtain clearance.
• Willing and able to travel 40% or more.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior US military experience
• Ten (10+) or more years of relevant cybersecurity experience
• Graduate degree in Cybersecurity or equivalent
• Active Top Secret Clearance

Targeted salary range is $100,000 to $115,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level however candidates with an Top Active Secret clearance are preferred. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
