Job Summary

Performs primary data abstraction duties for the Get With The Guidelines Coronary Artery Disease Registry. Ensures high levels of abstraction accuracy for assigned accounts via validation activities. Demonstrates strong communication, documentation, organizing, and planning skills to ensure effective leadership of multiple accounts concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Collects and abstracts data from patient medical records, especially those related to cardiac care, including diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and outcomes.
• Ensures the accuracy and completeness of the abstracted data, cross-referencing information from multiple sources within a patient's medical record.
• Adheres to clinical data abstraction guidelines and standards, such as those set by the American Heart Association.
• Enters the abstracted data into a database or registry, using specialized software, and maintains and updates the data as necessary.
• Participates in quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity, including regular audits of the data or abstraction process.
• Remains informed about developments in cardiac care and data management to maintain ongoing competency in the role.

Qualifications

• Experience abstracting in the GWTG CAD Registry within the last 2 years is required.
• Familiarity with medical records, billing/documentation practices, Microsoft Office, and healthcare quality concepts.
• Ability to work independently and rely on experience and judgment to accomplish goals.
• Maintains a strict level of confidentiality in all aspects of work.
• Demonstrates high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• This is a remote position.
• Required qualifications include MSN, BSN, or RN, and CPHQ certification.
