Job Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing cooked foods and performing all station functions, including Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and eggs. The role involves communicating ticket times and potential issues to the manager on duty and servers, providing high-quality service to customers and associates, and performing other duties as directed by management. This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions
- Follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other products.
- Taste products, follow menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies and equipment as needed.
- Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment.
- Practice excellent food safety and sanitation practices, complying with HACCP standards.
- Operate various kitchen equipment; measure and mix ingredients; wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables.
- Stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of products.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment
- Food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards.
- At least 1 year of related cooking experience; experience in high-volume and casual dining environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of foods related to Soups, Sauté, Broiler, Fry, and Pantry stations.
- Ability to read, speak, and understand instructions, policies, and communicate effectively with customers.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to bend, twist, and stand for long periods.
- Frequent immersion of hands in water and chemical solutions.
- Frequent use of sharp knives, utensils, and hot equipment.
- Work in hot environments regularly.
