POSITION SUMMARY:

The Gun Vault Specialist is responsible for backroom maintenance of all processes pertaining to firearms. This role requires the ability to safely handle firearms and adhere to all company, state, and federal firearms regulations. Responsibilities include acquiring and disposing of firearms, ensuring the integrity of ATF-required ARMS, and maintaining a complete, thorough, and accurate firearms inventory in accordance with all regulations. This position also provides counter sales and customer service for firearms and hunting merchandise, greeting and assisting customers in a prompt and friendly manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Physically and systematically receives/acquires incoming firearms using ARMS systems by close of business each day, verifying accuracy from gun to box and receiving documents.
• Disposes of firearms shipped/transferred to licensed dealers or stores, verifying disposition data from the Electronic 4473 to ARMS by close of business each day.
• Conducts monthly firearms audits.
• Ensures proper completion of ATF-required forms and applicable state forms for background checks, certifying and screening all potential firearm transfers for legality, complying with waiting periods and preventing straw purchases.
• Participates in ongoing training related to firearms, compliance, and selling skills.
• Ensures safe acquisition and disposal of firearms, including proper completion of forms, cleaning, preparation for retail sale, and safe handling of firearms received from customers.
• Keeps work area clean, neat, and well-stocked with supplies.
• Supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service, assisting customers in making buying decisions through needs analysis and product recommendations.
• Demonstrates products to customers.
• Organizes and maintains firearms within the retail store for sales at the Gun Counter, Fine Gun Room/Gun Library, and Gun Vault.
• Maintains visual standards by restocking, remerchandising, and cleaning fixtures.
• Sets and maintains all ads related to firearms.
• Remains knowledgeable of advertised sales and maintains pricing and signing.
• Replenishes product on shelves as required per merchandising guidelines.
• Assists with seasonal floor merchandise moves.
• Responds promptly to all ATF or State Firearm Trace Requests.
• Assists with training of store outfitters as requested.
• Remains a product expert through ongoing training.
• Follows all company policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in retail
• Age Required: Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to legally own and possess firearms under Federal and State Law.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Ability to understand and follow complex compliance regulations.
• Customer service and sales of firearms and hunting merchandise.
• Knowledge of 4473 & state paperwork completion.
• Understanding of GCA and ARMS.
• Knowledge of firearms and ammunition.
• Knowledge of ATF and state regulations regarding firearms and ammunition.
• Inventory control experience.
• Ability to safely handle firearms.
• Retail and computer knowledge.
• Ability to handle and stock merchandise.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Regularly walks, stands, lifts up to 50 lbs, and performs computer work.
• Seldom/never sits.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

• Performs duties within the scope of company policies and procedures, analyzes problems, and uses judgment to adapt guidelines to achieve desired results.
