Scheels Fargo, located at 1551 45th St S, Fargo, ND, is hiring a Gun Customer Service Associate. This role greets customers, processes purchases, and supports firearm background checks while following ATF guidelines. Eligibility requires the applicant to be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities include cashiering, promoting the Scheels Visa, and maintaining a welcoming environment aligned with Scheels ownership values. Training and OSHA safety practices are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• 1–3 months of cashiering experience preferred.
• Must be able to greet customers and process transactions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering and exiting the store with a smile.
• Engage customers and provide personalized service while promoting the digital receipt program.
• Scan items accurately and ensure proper payment at checkout.
• Bag purchases carefully and efficiently.
• Promote Scheels Visa and explain benefits.
• Assist with firearm background checks and processing firearm transactions.
• Complete firearm-related housekeeping and follow ATF guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview:

Gun Customer Service associates are responsible for creating a welcoming environment by greeting customers, accurately processing transactions while following all ATF federal laws and guidelines. This role provides friendly, helpful service that ensures customers leave with a positive impression of Scheels.

This role requires all associates to be at least 21 years of age due to compliance requirements for processing firearms.

Responsibilities:

• Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
• Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
• Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
• Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
• Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
• End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
• Process returns and exchanges for firearm purchases
• Complete firearm background checks
• Assist with Gun Room housekeeping
• Ensure all ATF federal laws and guidelines are followed
• Ability to execute technology-based processes for firearm and/or suppressor transactions
• All other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 1-3 months of cashiering experience

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
