Boston Public Schools is seeking Guild Substitutes to serve as secretaries to the principal or head administrator, providing essential clerical support in a school setting.
Responsibilities include handling correspondence, answering phones, greeting visitors, maintaining files, and coordinating with payroll to track time.
Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent and basic computer skills; successful coursework and strong communication are valued.
Note: This is a Guild Substitute Pool posting, which will be used to review resumes from prospective candidates who might be interested in working as a Guild Substitute in vacancies that are not anticipated to exceed thirty (30) consecutive workdays. Guild Substitutes will be hired to cover day-to-day assignments, as will be determined by the Schools or Central Office Departments.
Reports to: Principal/Headmaster
Under the general supervision, serves as secretary to the principal or headmaster of a school; performs complex clerical work requiring exercise of independent judgment. Uses appropriate current technology to carry out duties.
Compensation shall be paid at Step 1 of the Grade of the position for which the substitute is covering. If a Guild Substitute applies for and is hired into a regular part-time or full-time position, they will receive one month of seniority for each consecutive qualifying school year immediately preceding their appointment in a regular part-time or full-time position. A qualifying school year is any school year in which the Guild Substitute worked 15 or more days.
