Job summary

Applied ABC in Manchester, NH is seeking a Guidance/School Counselor to support students in grades K-6 by promoting social and emotional health and helping remove barriers to learning.

The role reports to the Principal/Special Education Administrator and requires NH certification, a Master’s degree in counseling, and at least two years of elementary counseling experience. A valid driver's license and travel to district buildings are also required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling and NH certification.
• Minimum 2 years experience with elementary-aged children.
• Valid NH driver’s license required.
• Travel to school district buildings and meetings as required.
• Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.

Responsibilities

• In person consultation on-site minimum 2x per month – required.
• Supports students with educational and personal counseling.
• Develop and evaluation of a school counseling programming for K-6.
• Experience providing individual and small group counseling.
• Interact with students with behaviors that might require interventions if necessary.
• Provide activities to help students understand themselves and relationships.
• Provide and coordinate training relating to social, emotional, behavioral needs of children to staff and parents.
• Promote student and parental involvement in school, including conferences.
• Encourage collaboration with parents, teachers, consultants and teamwork.
• Other duties as directed.

Promote the ability of students to access their educational potential by ensuring their social and emotional health and assist students in overcoming problems that impede learning.

Responsibilities of the Position:

• In person consultation on-site minimum 2x per month- required.
• Supports students with educational and personal counseling.
• Develop and evaluation of a school counseling programming for K-6.
• Experience providing individual and small group counseling.
• Ability to directly interact with students who are exhibiting behaviors that might require physical interventions if necessary.
• Provide activities to help students understand themselves and their relationships with others and seeks to develop in students increased competency in decision-making and problem solving.
• Provide and coordinate training relating to social, emotional, behavioral needs of children to staff members and parents.
• Promote student and parental involvement in school, including parent/teacher conferences.
• Encourage open collaboration with parents, teachers, consultants and working as a team.
• Other duties as directed.
