Job summary

United Launch Alliance seeks a Guidance Navigation and Control Engineer 1 to design, implement, verify and test gnc algorithms for launch vehicles and upper stages across powered and coast phases. Responsibilities include shaping guidance equations, processing navigation data and developing control laws and requirements.

Bachelor degree in aerospace engineering or related field is required; familiarity with MATLAB, C/C++, Python on Linux, and ability to collaborate with internal/external

  • Familiarity with Linux environment and software such as MATLAB, C/C++, Python.

  • Preferred: Master's degree in aerospace engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software for guidance, navigation and control of launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases.
  • Designs guidance functions including equations to achieve desired position, orientation or orbit in space.
  • Develops navigation functions with statistical processing of measured data for simulations.
  • Implements control design and analyses; develops control laws and hardware/software requirements for launch vehicles.

Job Overview & Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events.
  • Designs Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space.
  • Develops Navigation functions that include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality.
  • Implements Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for launch vehicles.

Summary Salary Range (forULA - Denver only): $73,790.00 - $122,983.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.

Additionally, most salaried ULA team members work a "9/80 schedule," meaning they enjoy every other Friday off.
