Job summary

Astranis in Northern California is offering a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer Associate role for Summer 2027. The twelve-week, salaried associate program is designed for new grads and includes hands-on work on challenging satellite hardware and software projects.

You will collaborate with the GN&C team to design, build, and test satellite systems, leveraging control theory, estimation methods, and coding in Python or C/C++. U.S. citizenship or eligible status is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a M.S program in a technical discipline with a focus on control systems or spacecraft design.
• Hold a four-year degree in a similar discipline.
• Familiarity with control theory and/or estimation methods.
• Experience with Python and/or C/C++.
• Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test software and/or hardware from scratch.

Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer Associate (Summer 2027)

Associate positions at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks, and are salaried roles designed for new grads who have graduated from a four-year university.

As an Associate, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems — we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, no matter their seniority. Many past interns have designed and tested hardware/software that is heading to space on our first satellite, and many of them are now full-time employees at Astranis.

Role

• Work with the Guidance, Navigation, and Control team to design, build, and test satellite software and hardware

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a M.S program in a technical discipline (e.g. engineering, CS, physics) with a focus on control systems, orbital mechanics, or spacecraft design, or a related technical field, and Hold a four-year degree in a similar discipline
• Familiarity with control theory and/or estimation methods
• Experience with python and/or C/C++
• Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test software and/or hardware from scratch

Bonus

• Familiarity with spacecraft design
• Experience with low thrust trajectories

The base salary for this position is $1,925 per week.

$1,925 — $1,925 USD
