Job summary

Astranis seeks a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer Associate for Summer 2027 in San Francisco. The 12-week salaried program targets new grads and offers hands-on design and testing of satellite software and hardware with the GN&C team.

You will work on hard problems, contribute to spaceflight hardware/software, and have a pathway to full-time roles as you advance from intern to employee.

Qualifications

• As an Associate you are enrolled in a technical MS program focusing on control systems, orbital mechanics, or spacecraft design.
• Familiarity with control theory and/or estimation methods is required.
• Experience with Python and/or C/C++ is expected.

Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer Associate (Summer 2027)

Associate positions at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks, and are salaried roles designed for new grads who have graduated from a four-year university.

As an Associate, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems - we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, no matter their seniority. Many past interns have designed and tested hardware/software that is heading to space on our first satellite, and many of them are now full-time employees at Astranis.

Role

Work with the Guidance, Navigation, and Control team to design, build, and test satellite software and hardware

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a M.S program in a technical discipline (e.g. engineering, CS, physics) with a focus on control systems, orbital mechanics, or spacecraft design, or a related technical field, and Hold a four-year degree in a similar discipline
• Familiarity with control theory and/or estimation methods
• Experience with python and/or C/C++
• Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test software and/or hardware from scratch

Bonus

• Familiarity with spacecraft design
• Experience with low thrust trajectories

Base Salary

The base salary for this position is $1,925 per week.
