School Faculty - Other - St. Gregory the Great Catholic School

St. Gregory the Great Catholic School in Plantation, Florida is looking for a full-time School Guidance Counselor for immediate hire to assist students with personal, family, educational, and emotional issues and to collaborate with the administration, faculty, staff, and parents to address the students’ needs. The School Counselor performs all the duties and responsibilities of a counselor in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Archdiocese of Miami.

Primary Duties and Functions:

• Maintain confidentiality of information learned in this position as well as deal tactfully with students, personnel, family members, visitors, and the public.
• Collaborate with administration, teachers, parents, and students.
• Analyze complete psychological-educational student evaluations.
• Exercise prudence and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Work a flexible time schedule.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling or related field required.
• Certification in: Guidance Counseling, School Psychology/School Social Worker, or Florida Department of Health License as a Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Counselor.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
• Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time and to meet multiple deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Effective oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
• Supportive and respectful of the missions and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in a Roman Catholic environment preferred.
