Job summary

Adventure Science Center in Nashville is seeking a Guest Services Representative to join the front desk team. This part-time, non-exempt role handles tickets, visitor assistance, and guest questions with a friendly, positive approach.

The position requires reliable, independent work with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Primary duties include cash handling, group coordination, safety duties, and occasional exhibit operations support at ASC.

Qualifications

• Preferred guest relations experience.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Willingness to work peak days including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and sell admission tickets, providing friendly, prompt, and accurate customer service
• Learn and understand how exhibits work to ensure visitors have a positive experience
• Keep lobby and front desk clean and presentable
• Answer guest questions and help resolve concerns, in person and via phone
• Balance cash drawer at end of day
• Welcome and accommodate school and private groups
• Train for and work exhibit operations as needed
• Coat check and stroller rental as needed
• Engage guests in personal, inspiring interactions while showing enthusiasm
• Perform core operational functions of guest safety and wayfinding
• Carry out emergency procedures and protocols for incidents when necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Position Title: Guest Services Representative

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Pay Rate: $17.48 per hour

Position Overview

As a member of Adventure Science Center’s Guest Services team, the Guest Services Representative is expected to deliver consistent, quality service with enthusiasm, positive attitude, and respect to all ASC guests. This position is responsible for completing all front desk functions as trained and assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and sell admission tickets, providing friendly, prompt, and accurate customer service
• Learn and understand how our exhibits work and how to utilize that knowledge to ensure that our visitors have a positive, unique, and fun experience
• Work as a team to ensure the lobby and front desk are clean and presentable to visitors
• Answer guest questions and help resolve concerns, both in person and via phone.
• Balance cash drawer at the end of each day
• Welcome and accommodate school and private groups
• Train for and work exhibit operations as needed
• Coat check and stroller rental as needed
• Proactively engage guests in personal, inspiring interactions while showing enthusiasm about ASC
• Perform core operational functions of guest safety and wayfinding
• Carry out emergency procedures and protocols for incidents when necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Preferred previous guest relations experience
• Strong customer service skills
• Be able to work independently
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Be reliable, flexible, and personable
• Willingness to take initiative and make decisions in customer service
• Must be capable of general physical movement, i.e., standing and bending throughout the day.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Availability to work peak days and hours, including a combination of weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• First Aid/CPR/AED (Adult and/or Pediatric) certification preferred
• The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
• Typically, walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items (up to 20 pounds unassisted), and 50lbs assisted are required. At times, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Also, the employee must have manual dexterity, visual, and auditory acuity.
• Some repetitive motion is involved.
