Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for providing a high level of customer service to all guests entering system facilities. Enhances a service-oriented environment by welcoming patients and visitors. Serves as an easily accessible and identifiable source of campus and local area information. Performs appropriate screening procedures for patients, guests, and vendors.

Job Duties
  1. Warmly welcomes patients, visitors, vendors, and guests to the Geisinger facility.
  2. Creates positive first and last impressions.
  3. Ensures screening and visitation policies and procedures are adhered to for patients, guests, and vendors.
  4. Opens car doors and assists patients and visitors safely in and out of their vehicles.
  5. Assists patients with Valet Parking and Shuttle services.
  6. Escorts or transports patients in wheelchairs to priority locations.
  7. Coordinates transport of patients with patient transport services as needed.
  8. Evaluates the need for patient transfer and lift team, calling for assistance as needed.
  9. Provides information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, guests, vendors, and employees.
  10. Obtains resources to transport patients across campus; maintains wheelchair availability in assigned locations.
  11. Checks wheelchairs and equipment for defects and arranges for service as needed.
  12. Interacts courteously and professionally with patients, visitors, guests, and vendors.
  13. Remains courteous, tactful, and respectful at all times.
  14. Approaches and connects with patients and visitors to identify any assistance they require.
  15. Responds to requests appropriately and alerts clinical staff and hospital departments as needed.
  16. Ensures hospital entrances and lobbies are clear, orderly, and presentable.
  17. Collaborates with Environmental Services and Facilities as needed.
  18. Identifies parking issues and seeks assistance from security staff to redirect vehicles or issue violation notices.
  19. Enforces no smoking policy throughout the campus.
  20. Reports safety concerns and patient issues to management.
  21. Assesses safety issues, assists patients in entrance areas, and initiates emergency systems as appropriate.
  22. Resolves visitor inquiries using available resources, including the internet.
  23. Documents and reports daily interactions to improve quality and patient experience.
  24. Distributes maps, brochures, and other materials as appropriate.
  25. Uses the patient information system to provide accurate information respecting HIPAA regulations and operational needs.
