Job description

Position Summary

The Guest Services Coordinator (GSC) provides care services for shelter guests assigned to them during their residency at Wheeler Mission and offers general guest support. This includes assisting the GSC II and GSC III with evening and weekend activities as assigned.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Resident Support
  • Checks guests in and out using guest software, following Wheeler policies and procedures; informs staff of any guests not returning through written forms.
  • Provides guests with guidance and support, using approved techniques and scripture.
  • Assists with monitoring meals and ensures assigned daily tasks are completed.
  • Collaborates with other staff to facilitate nightly activities and supervises these activities.
  • Mediates disputes and records incidents for the Director and program staff.
  • Greets volunteers, directs them to their volunteer area, and supervises as needed.
  • Assists with special events and other program duties as assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Meets daily with team members and supervisor to review guest changes and situations.
  • Participates in daily, weekly, and other regular program meetings.
  • Completes paperwork, incident reports, answers emails, and maintains required reporting.

This position has no direct reports but may be asked to assist in the supervision of program guests and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • 1+ years of recent work experience demonstrating dependability and a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility for different shifts, hours, or occasional weekends; may require extended hours or overtime.
  • Verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction and documentation.
  • High school diploma, GED, or willingness to pursue an HSE in the first year.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and develop; ability to learn software systems used by Wheeler Mission.
  • 1+ years of general experience in a non‑profit program department preferred.
  • Familiarity with Wheeler Mission’s program focus and residents’ experience (addiction, mental health, trauma) strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift office supplies and equipment up to 20 pounds.
Shift Differentials
  • 5:00p.m.–11:00p.m.: $1.00 extra per hour.
  • 11:00p.m.–7:00a.m.: $2.00 extra per hour.
Pay Incentives
  • Additional $0.50 per hour upon completion of the SkillBridge training program.
