Job summary

Muse Knoxville in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Part-time Guest Experience Specialist to support children and families with discovery, exploration, and play across our indoor and outdoor exhibits. You will help create a welcoming, safe, and educational environment in a fast-paced setting.

The role emphasizes customer service, engagement with guests, and teamwork. Flexible Sundays through Saturdays, with up to 15 hours per week and a pay rate of $14.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Pass a criminal background check.
• Strong interest in engaging young children and their caregivers.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive and friendly attitude.
• Understanding of basic technology and mathematics skills.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds as needed.
• Comfortable speaking in front of groups.
• Customer service background and/or experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage and interact with children and their caregivers in a high energy environment.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness by resetting spaces and sanitizing toys.
• Open and close exhibit floor and outside exhibit areas.
• Ensure that exhibit spaces are stocked before opening and throughout the day.
• Run planetarium shows and facilitate scripted, interactive shows in front of guests.
• Host birthday parties with the highest level of customer service excellence.
• Supervise and delegate specific tasks to volunteers.
• Communicate with the Assistant Director of Guest Experience regarding exhibit issues, safety concerns, and items that are running low.
• Maintain current knowledge of Muse programming and events to enhance guest experience.
• Complete daily and weekly cleaning checklist and bathroom checks.
• Facilitate Daily Discovery activity tables and other scheduled programming as needed.
• Support the front desk as needed.

GUEST EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

A Guest Experience Specialist at Muse Knoxville works alongside children and families to help facilitate discovery, exploration, and play with our indoor and outdoor exhibits, while maintaining a clean and safe space for all. They are an energetic, task-oriented individual who excels in customer service and enjoys engaging with guests.

SCHEDULE: Need flexibility, Sunday-Saturday 9:00am-7:30pm, occasional evenings; up to 15 hours per week

PAY RATE: $14.00/hour

STATUS: Part-time; Non-exempt
