Job summary

Happy Camper is seeking a friendly Host to warmly greet guests and manage seating in a busy Chicago restaurant. You will be a friendly first impression, guide guests, and maintain the flow of the dining area with a positive attitude and teamwork.

The role requires standing for long periods, strong customer service, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Location is Chicago, IL, within a vibrant hospitality group.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to provide top notch customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• A positive attitude and ability work well under pressure with all restaurant staff.
• Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
• Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
• Able to work in a busy restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests as they enter with energetic & positive attitude.
• Create and maintain wait list if necessary.
• Effective use of OpenTable.
• Provide guests with menus and answering any initial questions.
• Seat guests at tables or in designated waiting areas.
• Assign guests to tables they prefer, while keeping table rotation in mind so that servers receive the right number of customers.
• Respond to complaints and help resolve them or get a manager involved.
• Answer phone calls, take reservations and answer any general inquiries guests may have.
• A running knowledge of food and beverage menu.
• Acknowledging guests as they leave.
• Maintain company culture.
