Job summary

Fred Meyer, Inc. is seeking a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to provide outstanding customer service, bag groceries at checkout, and help maintain a clean, safe shopping environment.

You will assist customers, restock shelves, and uphold store standards while adhering to safety and food handling guidelines. The role emphasizes friendly, efficient interaction, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities

• Bag groceries for customers at checkout and strive to bag at least five items per bag without damaging contents.
• Assist customers by loading bags into their car when needed.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning and return merchandise to store shelves.
• Inform customers of grocery specials and locate products within the store.
• Gather shopping carts and return them to designated areas; keep aisles clean and safe.
• Clean spills, collect trash in store and parking lot, and maintain cleanliness in all areas inside and outside the store.
• Handle seasonal merchandise and understand the store layout to conduct price checks for cashiers.
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines; monitor equipment and report repairs needed.
• Create an inviting environment by answering questions about products and assisting customers throughout the store.
• Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines; work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally, acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve customer and business issues; assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as required.
