Job summary

Wegmans in the United States is seeking a friendly cashier to help customers at traditional checkout and self-checkout lanes. You will provide proactive service, scan items accurately, and ensure customers end their visit with a positive impression.

Key duties include engaging customers, bagging efficiently, directing traffic at self-checkout, and keeping your workspace clean and well-stocked. Previous experience with cash registers and a customer-service mindset are important.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a cash register and handling payments.
• Strong customer-service mindset and ability to engage with customers.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow checkout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact and smiling; proactively offer additional assistance.
• When on register, efficiently and accurately scan items and process payments.
• Properly bag items to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store.
• When in self-checkout area, manage traffic flow, direct customers to available lanes, assist customers with system troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work space.
