Experts in service, operations, process, and efficiency, this team is responsible for being proficient in all areas of the store to complete duties such as, but not limited to, cashiering, stocking, presentation, and price accuracy. You’ll provide exceptional guest service, customizing each experience and anticipating guest needs.

At Target, we believe in our team members having meaningful experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career. The role of a Small Format Team Member can provide you with the skills and experience of:

  • Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture across the store
  • Retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, pricing and promotion strategies, inventory management, and process efficiency & improvement
  • Supporting daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

As a Small Format Team Member, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:

  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks.
  • Engage with guests in a welcoming way when they need assistance to help solve their specific needs.
  • Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
  • Help guests as you complete workload with minimal guest disruption.

Additional responsibilities include working in all departments to ensure the sales floor is full, zoned, and in stock, assisting with truck unloads, making changes to merchandise displays, conducting weekly price change workloads, ensuring inventory accuracy through scans and audits, supporting major transitions, maintaining store cleanliness, executing fills, processing inbound deliveries, maintaining backroom organization, following safety policies, supporting guest services like cashiering and order pickup, and other duties as needed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This may be the right job for you if:

  • You enjoy interacting and helping others, including guests and team members.
  • You thrive in a fast-moving, active, and physically demanding role, where teamwork, flexibility, and creative problem solving are key.
  • You are open to working a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

We have excellent training to help you succeed, but from the start, you should have:

  • A welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
  • The ability to communicate via multiple devices and operate technology equipment.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills to resolve guest questions immediately.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow multi-step processes.
  • Focus and composure in a fast-paced environment to accomplish multiple tasks within timeframes.

Additional basics include handling cash register operations, climbing ladders, moving merchandise safely, working flexible hours, and being able to work in varying environmental conditions.
