Job summary

The Hawaii State Judiciary seeks a Social Worker IV (Public Guardian) in Wailuku, Maui. This role provides guardianship and case management for incapacitated adults under supervision of the Office of the Public Guardian, conducting interviews, assessments, and coordinating services.

Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, testifying at court hearings, maintaining case records, and traveling to residences, facilities, and courts, with occasional overnight and inter-island assignments

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology or related fields.
• Substitution rules allow advanced degrees to substitute for experience.
• Ability to write clear reports and interpret complex material.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews and assessments for guardianship cases.
• Develop and monitor treatment plans and coordinate services.
• Attend court hearings and provide guardianship reports and testimony.
• Maintain comprehensive case records and ensure wards are protected from abuse or neglect.
• Travel regularly to residences, facilities, courts, and other locations, with occasional overnight and inter-island assignments.
