Job description

MIchaelson Law is seeking an experienced attorney to assist clients with guardianship and conservatorship matters, including establishing and administering guardianships, advising on fiduciary duties, and handling contested cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Nevada guardianship law, excellent drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentiality. A Nevada law license and J.D. degree are required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting clients with establishing and administering guardianships and conservatorships for minors and incapacitated adults.
  • Preparing and filing petitions, reports and accountings required for judicial approval and compliance.
  • Advising clients on guardianship responsibilities, fiduciary duties and compliance with statutory requirements
  • Providing legal guidance on alternatives to guardianship such as powers of attorney and trusts.
  • Assisting clients with planning for incapacity and special needs care.
  • Structuring guardianship plans to address financial management, healthcare decisions and living arrangements
  • Representing clients in contested guardianship cases, including disputes over capacity, fitness of guardians and fiduciary actions.
  • Negotiating settlements and resolving conflicts through mediation and arbitration.
  • Drafting and reviewing petitions, orders, annual reports and care plans.
  • Preparing legal correspondence, motions and settlement agreements.
  • Ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all legal documentation.
Qualifications
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in Nevada.
  • Strong knowledge of Nevada guardianship law and procedures.
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and research skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
