Summary Of Duties

Incumbent will work with Crew Management, Managers and Crew Base Management to ensure all OBS and T&E positions are filled daily this includes job vacancies, created by vacations, leave of absence, extra assignments, late or no show. Works with CMC to ensure all OBS jobs are filled on a daily basis, including job vacancies created by vacations, leave of absences, and extra assignments. Prepares time sheets for each OBS employee and ensures time sheets submitted are completed correctly for supervisor's approval. Receives and logs in all Bid Applications and vacation forms. Must have working knowledge of ARROW systems. Distributes paychecks, posts extra board running sheets, and performs other duties as may be assigned. Employee is responsible for handling sensitive records and information. Confidentiality is a must. Must be qualified on LMS. Must have excellent verbal skills, written, and communication skills and ability to work in highly active work environment. Accurately verify OBS time sheets for exceptions and release to the Labor Collection System for payment on a daily basis. Must be conversant with entitlement provisions of ASWC agreement. Responsible for overall payroll function within the Crew Service Support operation as assigned. Must maintain accurate records of job assignments, vacation entitlements, seniority rosters, rates of pay, and other issues affecting payroll. Must be able to extract data in report form upon request.

This position does not require the incumbent to be Familiarity with NORAC bulletins and bid, vacation application forms.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure proper use of the extra board in accordance with all applicable union contracts.
  • Keep accurate records of employee assignments; pull running boards and complete LMS Raw Punch report.
  • Prepare daily crew sign in sheets.
  • Ensure all employees sign in within prescribed time limits and are in compliance with Amtrak’s Uniform Policy.
  • Prepares and distributes crew discrepancy notices as required.
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures to ensure all assigned tools and equipment are logged according to procedures.
  • Distribute, record and keep accurate records of issued tools and equipment for OBS and T&E employees.
  • Post and distribute all relative employee related correspondence.
  • Incumbent is responsible for handling sensitive records and information; therefore confidentiality is a must.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of ARROW, CICSPROD and LMS systems. Working knowledge of Micro-soft Word, Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with NORAC bulletins and bid, vacation application forms. Ability to make quick decisions and multi-task.
  • Good knowledge of train schedules and equipment.
  • Independent requiring minimal supervision and have superior time management skills. Knowledge of accounting procedures to ensure all assigned tools and equipment are logged according to procedures.
  • Must have some Amtrak experience.
  • Employees must conform to Amtrak’s “Standards of Excellence” and prescribed code of dress.

Preferred Qualifications & Work Environment

  • A few years experience in OBS or Crew Dispatcher experience.
  • Employees must conform to Amtrak’s “Standards of Excellence” and prescribed code of dress.
  • Two years college preferred.

Communications And Interpersonal Skills

  • Must have excellent oral, written and communication skills.
  • Must have a Strong work ethic.

The hourly rate is $28.30 -$37.73 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
