Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co‑Op for Cornelia, GA to gain hands-on experience in adhesives, polymer resins, and needle manufacturing within Ethicon Global Tech Ops. The program runs January to May 2027 and offers a full-time 40-hour work week with 8 available positions.

As a Co‑op, you will work with mentors and senior engineers on continuous improvement projects, deliver end-of-semester presentations, and participate in J&J Credo activities.

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year is required.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Plastics Engineering or related fields.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
• Must not have conflicting Summer Internship contract or other employment during the specified dates.

Responsibilities

• Participate in solving operating problems to maintain or improve site operations.
• Maintain good documentation practices including writing test protocols and reports.
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers to implement continuous improvement projects.
• Deliver end-of-semester presentations to site management and participate in Credo volunteer activities.

Ethicon, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, has made significant contributions to surgery for more than 60 years from creating the first sutures, to revolutionizing surgery with minimally invasive procedures. The Ethicon Global Tech Ops group is recruiting for Manufacturing Engineering Co-Ops for three work rotations or sequential semesters starting Spring 2027. As a Co-op, you will gain hands-on experience with the production of adhesives, polymer resins, monofilament and multifilament extrudate, needle manufacturing, and more!

You Will Be Responsible

• Participate in problem solving efforts by analysis and correction of chemical, electrical, and mechanical operating problems to maintain or improve existing site operations.
• Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes.
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers and mentors to implement continuous improvement projects.
• Deliver end of semester presentations to showcase work to site management and participate in J&J Credo volunteer activities across the site.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Plastics Engineering, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• You must not have any Summer Internship contract or other employment commitment that could interfere with the contract dates specified for this position.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), including basic use of pivot tables and graphs.
• Experience with statistical analysis techniques and software (preferred).
• Experience with CAD, Tableau, Power BI, and/or Minitab (preferred).
• For Automation & Control Engineering opportunities: interest in industrial control systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation, and/or MES systems (preferred).
• Pay strong attention to detail, be highly organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills with manufacturing associates, management, contractors, and suppliers - opportunities to improve your technical writing, speaking, and presentation skills are numerous and strongly supported.
• Ability to work both independently and on multi-functional, diverse teams.
• Proven leadership and participation in campus/community service activities is preferred.
