Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co‑Op in Cornelia, GA, to join the Ethicon Global Tech Ops team. The program runs January through May 2027 with a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) and housing stipend eligibility.

Candidates will work on adhesives, polymers, needles, and related manufacturing processes, gaining hands-on experience across multiple rotations. 8 positions are currently available.

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year is required.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Electrical or related fields.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• No conflicting internships during contract dates.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in problem solving to maintain or improve site operations.
• Document test protocols, reports, and meeting minutes.
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers on continuous improvement projects.
• Deliver end-of-semester presentations to site management and participate in J&J Credo activities.

Ethicon, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, has made significant contributions to surgery for more than 60 years from creating the first sutures, to revolutionizing surgery with minimally invasive procedures. The Ethicon Global Tech Ops group is recruiting for Manufacturing Engineering Co-Ops for three work rotations or sequential semesters starting Spring 2027. As a Co-op, you will gain hands‑on experience with the production of adhesives, polymer resins, monofilament and multifilament extrudate, needle manufacturing, and more!

You will be responsible:

• Participate in problem solving efforts by analysis and correction of chemical, electrical, and mechanical operating problems to maintain or improve existing site operations.
• Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes.
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers and mentors to implement continuous improvement projects.
• Deliver end of semester presentations to showcase work to site management and participate in J&J Credo volunteer activities across the site.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Plastics Engineering, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• You must not have any Summer Internship contract or other employment commitment that could interfere with the contract dates specified for this position.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), including basic use of pivot tables and graphs.
• Experience with statistical analysis techniques and software (preferred).
• Experience with CAD, Tableau, Power BI, and/or Minitab (preferred).
• For Automation & Control Engineering opportunities: interest in industrial control systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation, and/or MES systems (preferred).
• Pay strong attention to detail, be highly organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills with manufacturing associates, management, contractors, and suppliers - opportunities to improve your technical writing, speaking, and presentation skills are numerous and strongly supported.
• Ability to work both independently and on multi-functional, diverse teams.
• Proven leadership and participation in campus/community service activities is preferred.
