Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an experienced Electrical Tradesperson to maintain and upgrade facility electrical systems. You will handle low and high voltage distribution, fire alarm systems, and related lighting, with testing and documentation responsibilities.

Required are 3–5 years in the trade, a state apprenticeship completion, and a journeyman license. Expect collaboration across trades and potential OT in a dynamic federal lab environment.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

Obtain and analyze job information to layout, install, modify, troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility electrical, specialty, and fire alarm systems.

Work involves low voltage and high voltage single and multiphase distribution, fire alarm, breaker testing, specialty systems, lighting, control systems, associated fixtures and components.

As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.

Qualifications We Require

Perform required periodic testing of systems and utilize a computerized database to maintain required records.

Perform work using industry standard safety practices such as: proper use and inspection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and test equipment for confirmation of the de-energization of electrical circuits including but not limited to insulation resistance tester, digital multi-meter, and circuit tracers.

Devise tests, fabricate assemblies, or troubleshoot as necessary, and keep work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

May consult with other Tradespersons and provide direction to other employees as required.

Diagnose and correct malfunctions in electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.

Must have working knowledge of SNL's Low Voltage Electrical Distribution systems. Will perform appropriate, auxiliary, or related duties in the general area of work activity necessary to accomplish the above.

Will support various electrical trade disciplines on an as needed basis.

Test circuit breakers, safety switches, transformers, VFD¿s, motor starters to NETA standards.

Provides electrical services throughout Sandia National Laboratories to include the installation, repair or alteration of electrical wired circuits and apparatus that are used for the transmission of electrical energy for light, heat, and power purposes.

Must maintain a deep understanding of building code regulations to check and ensure compliance with the highest standards of building design and construction.

Success in this role will be demonstrated by employing effective process controls to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficient installation and maintenance of electrical systems.

Qualifications We Desire

Typical experience includes minimum of 3-5 years as a fully qualified Electrical Tradesperson, and is capable of obtaining a journeyman's license

Completion of a State-approved apprenticeship program or equivalent, and a journeyman license in electrical trades, with the ability to maintain the required license and certifications.

Electrical Trades will be required to support various electrical trade disciplines as required and qualified.

Ability to work overtime as needed
