Job summary

Horizon Science Academy New Bedford is seeking a dynamic GSRP Lead Teacher for its preschool program in Michigan. This full-time position requires the lead instructional role, planning daily activities, and guiding development to meet state requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a Michigan teaching certificate with ZS/ZA and a relevant degree, plus 3–5 years of preschool experience. DHHS requirements must be met. Salary offered is $50,000 with full-time benefits and responsibilities as listed.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Michigan Teacher Certification with a ZS or ZA endorsement.
• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education with specialization in pre-k teaching.
• Minimum of three - five (3-5) years of successful work experience working with young children in a group.
• Meet all requirements established by the Michigan Department of Human and Health Services (DHHS), as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily activities according to the interests and abilities of the children in assigned groups.
• Plan and conduct structured and unstructured activities in a variety of curricular areas, offering several choices each day.
• Stimulate interest and creative abilities of the children to promote intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
• Post weekly lesson plans.
• Maintain an orderly physical environment conductive to optimal growth and development of children.
• Observe and record significant individual and group behavior.
• Communicate with parents with respect to their child's development and behavior.
• Inform the Director of pre-k programs of any pertinent information related to parents and children.
• Understand and maintain goals and objectives of the Academy's preschool program.
• Assemble and bring snacks and lunch from kitchen to assigned classroom, supervise children at meal and snack times. Responsible for clean up after meal and snack times.
• Conduct home visits as required.
• Attend staff meetings and all professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

NATURE OF THE POSITION:This position is responsible for the instructional program for the subject matter assigned. The Lead Teacher must provide students of the Academy's preschool program with instructional tools to develop skills required to successfully meet the State of Michigan education requirements.
