TITLE: GSRP Lead Teacher

Start Date: Immediately

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a ZA or ZS credential or a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in an early childhood setting.

Other:
Must meet State of Michigan Department of Human Services Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (may include, but not limited to):

  1. Plans individual and group activities to stimulate optimal growth in all domains.
  2. Develops and uses instructional materials aligned with Creative Curriculum.
  3. Maintains the confidentiality of each child and family, and respects the culture and background of each family served.
  4. Uses the developmental screenings and child observation assessments as required to determine each child’s development and growth in all domains.
  5. Analyzes data and utilizes data for planning instruction and reporting results to program administrators and parents.
  6. Provides a welcoming, nurturing and supportive climate to establish and reinforce age appropriate social skills.
  7. Assesses families’ needs and assists with follow up.
  8. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers and exhibits of children’s work.
  9. Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of children in communication skills, health habits, physical skills and development of self-concept.
  10. Utilizes Child Plus and other program applications as required to document attendance, meal counts, communication, etc.
  11. Maintains a routine schedule of data collection for child assessment including child observations, collection of anecdotal notes, and demonstration of skills to measure children’s growth; completes the child assessments required for the program in a timely, complete manner.
  12. Plans and coordinates the work of Associate Teacher, Classroom Support, parents/guardians/caregivers, students and volunteers in the GSRP classroom.
  13. Assists in the orientation and training of staff and volunteers in the room.
  14. Communicates regularly with parents by means of a newsletter, notes, phone calls, home visits and individual parent/guardian/caregiver conferences.
  15. Interprets school programs to parents in order to strengthen parental understanding of the individual child’s needs and the school’s role in the child’s learning and growth.
  16. Promotes parent/guardian/caregiver involvement in education activities provided for their children, and participation in volunteering in the classroom or in other activities.
  17. Participates in staff and center team meetings.
  18. Participates in required professional development hours.
  19. Is the primary caregiver and is responsible for active supervision of children at all times.
  20. Understands and implements the program’s MTSS/Positive Behavior Climate strategies and models consistently.

Bargaining Unit: None

Salary Schedule: $42,444 - $46,795 depending on experience.

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Early Childhood Learning Center
