Job summary

Mt. Pleasant Public School District is seeking GSRP Relief staff to provide break or preparation time for GSRP Lead Teachers and Associate Teachers. Positions are funded by the GSRP Grant and may require mid-day travel.

GSRP After-Care through 5:45 p.m. is part of the role. Required qualifications include a High School Diploma, and either two years of college (60 semester hours) or an associate's degree, or equivalently demonstrated by state/local assessments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours) or have an associate's degree.
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality via a formal state/local assessment (WorkKeys, MTTC, Parapro, etc.).
• Experience working with young children.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to children and communicate well.

Responsibilities

• Support students throughout the school day including recess and lunch.
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment to meet the students’ needs.
• Assist in implementing the daily program of the building.
• Encourage family involvement and create a welcoming classroom.
• Organize materials for classroom projects.
• Participate in professional development as directed by the principal.
• Supervise students during lunch and facilitate activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma
• Aspartnersintheinstructionalprocess,paraprofessionals whoworkinprogramssupportedwithGSRP and/or Title I funding sourcesmustmeetoneofthefollowingrequirements:
  • Completeatleasttwoyearsofstudyataninstitutionofhighereducation(equalto60semesterhours); or have anassociate'sdegree(orhigher);
  • or
  • Meetarigorousstandardofqualityanddemonstrate,throughaformalstateorlocalacademicassessment.(Example:WorkKeysTest,MTTC,ETSParaproAssessment,etc.)
• Experienceworkinginasettingdealingdirectlywithyoungchildren.
• Demonstratedabilitytorelatewithchildren
• Goodinterpersonalandcommunicationskills.
• Competencyinoralandwrittencommunications. Proficiencyinwrittencommunicationsmustbedemonstrated.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Post secondary course work with concentration in child development or related area
• Completion of First Aid, CPR, Behavior Management and Physical Intervention Skills
• Ability to work with students having special needs and/or aggressive behaviors.
• Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students over varied age groups and varied disabilities.

WAGESANDBENEFITS

This position starts at $12.18 per hour. A full and a part time positon is available, and the daily hours would be approximately between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., for 7.0 hours per day. The part time positon would be hours per day.

EVALUATION

PerformanceofthisjobwillbeevaluatedinaccordancewiththeprovisionsestablishedintheAgreementbetweentheMt.PleasantSupportPersonnelAssociationandtheMt.PleasantBoardofEducation.
