Job summary

Greater Midland is seeking a GSRP Assistant Teacher to deliver high-quality education and care in the Early Childhood Program under the supervision of the Director of Early Childhood Education. You will help implement a consistent daily routine, oversee age-appropriate learning opportunities, and manage assistants in the classroom.

The position requires a CDA in Preschool Setting, experience with children, and compliance with Michigan licensing.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Minimum of a CDA in Preschool Setting.
  • Experience working with children.
  • TB and Fingerprint clearance required.
  • CRR/1st Aid Certified.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in program evaluation using CLASS.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers to create child development goals.
  • Conduct two home visits and two parent/teacher conferences annually for every child and family.
  • Maintain assessment, tracking and documentation of activities and milestones.
  • Coordinate two family fun night activities per year.
  • Assist in producing comprehensive lesson plans in line with curriculum.
  • Implement conflict resolution steps while following licensing guidelines.
  • Engage with parents/guardians through written and verbal communication.
  • Ensure GSRP guidelines and requirements are met.

Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Early Childhood Education and GSRP Teacher, the GSRP Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing high quality education and care to children enrolled in the Early Childhood Program. This role is responsible for implementing a consistent daily routine, planning and overseeing the execution of age/developmentally appropriate learning opportunities and managing Assistant Teachers assigned to their classroom. The GSRP Assistant Teacher must maintain high personal standards and adhere to, and carry out, the Purpose and Values of Greater Midland.

Major Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the ongoing program evaluation using CLASS.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers to create meaningful child development goals.
  • Conduct two home visits and two parent/teacher conferences with the Lead Teacher annually for every child and family.
  • Maintain persistent assessment, tracking and documentation of activities, progress, milestones, and Key Developmental Indicators (KPIs) through COR.
  • Help coordinate two family fun night activities per year.
  • Aid in the production of comprehensive lesson plans compliant with center curriculum.
  • Consistently implement and oversee the implementation of appropriate conflict resolution steps and classroom licensing guidelines.
  • Engage with parents/guardians through written, verbal and social media platforms, building healthy relationships with parents/guardians, staff and children.
  • Ensure all GSRP guidelines and requirements are met (as applicable).
  • Ensure every child’s daily basic needs are met, including but not limited to: engaging at child’s level, diapering/toileting, food prep/service, supporting personal hygiene practices, and supporting physical, cognitive and social/emotional development.
  • Maintain compliance with State of Michigan Licensing at all times.
  • Complete 24+ hours of professional development annually, CPR/First Aid as needed.
  • Consistently demonstrate behaviors aligned with Greater Midland Values.
Qualification Requirements
  • Must be at least 19 years of age

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Bending, twisting and reaching required
  • Ability to get up and down from floor/sitting position as required
  • Ability to walk while pushing a stroller/buggy for a minimum of 45 minutes
