Job summary

St. Joseph County ISD in Centreville, MI is seeking a Part-time GSRP Aide to support the Lead Teacher across four sites. The role requires regular attendance, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and active presence on-site each scheduled day. Training includes CPR/AED and first aid; 190 workdays per year with a 30-hour maximum weekly schedule.

The aide will assist with classroom activities, family communications, and reporting, while participating in team planning with educators and support staff.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with preschool preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively with GSRP Lead Teacher and staff.
• Yearly CPR/AED and first aid certification.
• Must have regular and reliable attendance and the physical ability to perform the job.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at a physical level with preschoolers.
• Must physically be present at the designated job site each scheduled work day.

Job Description

Performance Responsibilities:

• Ability to use computers, software and other current technology.
• Effective written communication skills; including parent/family communications and program data and reports.
• Have the ability to effective oral communication with children, families, GSRP Program Manager and other program staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervise children during classroom activities and outdoor periods on the playground.
• Supervise emergency situations (i.e. tornado drills, fire drills, etc.).
• Monitor safety of children during arrival and departure activities.
• Supervision of children out of the classroom and/or school building (i.e. community based instruction/leisure, field trips, etc.).
• Constantly monitor and evaluate the safety of all children.

Physical Aspects of the Job:

• Climb steps and playground equipment as needed.
• Walk long distances in community-based instruction.
• Lift and position physically involved children.
• Change diapers or assist any children in toileting and other self-care skills.
• Assist with maintenance/custodial care of classroom, as needed.
• Use universal precautions at all times for personal health and safety.

Non-Instructive Responsibilities :

• Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom clerical and record keeping duties (i.e. attendance, lunch count, progress monitoring of child development).
• Complete accident and/or incident reports as needed.

Terms of Employment:

Part time (no benefits) To be determined based on the Non-Union Conditions of Employment. Work schedule: 190 days, Monday -Thursday, not to exceed 30 hours per week.
